The stylist-consultant position is the first point of contact for the customer after the eye exam with the optometrist. Their role is to present different frames to customers based on their personal/professional needs, their morphology and their ametropia. They must then summarize the customer’s needs to the optician to facilitate the choice of ophthalmic lenses. Depending on the traffic, the stylist must ensure the reception of customers (from making appointments to answering customer questions by phone or in their presence at the store).

As a stylist consultant, you will have to…

  • Customer reception:
    • Direct the customer according to the reason for their presence;
    • Announce the arrival of the customer to the resource person;
    • Ensure the customer is taken care of.
  • Frame selection:
    • Evaluate and identify the customer’s needs for frame selection according to the prescription;
    • Inform the customer about the different products available or current promotions so that they can make a choice according to their needs;
    • Communicate to the optician the important points discussed with the customer so that the latter analyzes the needs of ophthalmic and/or corneal lenses.
  • Administration:
    • Enter or update the customer’s contact information in the computer system;
    • Make optometry and optician appointments;
    • Answer the phone, screen calls;
    • Take messages and route them to resource persons;
    • Provide basic information on the services offered by phone or to people who come to the clinic;
    • Ensure customer calls are made, within appropriate timeframes, when their glasses are ready;
    • Process various payments: exam, form, deposit or full payment of glasses orders, corneal lenses and various products;
    • Close the cash register at the end of the day: count the money in the cash register for deposit purposes.

  • Be able to work as a team and under pressure;
  • Be customer-oriented and enjoy working with the public;
  • Have strong sales skills and learn easily;
  • Be punctual, motivated, resourceful and autonomous.
